Made by You: Tarot & Art History with Bad Art

Join us for an insightful lesson on Art History and interpretation, and fun collage workshop creating your own Tarot Cards (or other cards of your choice).

We will use matte gel medium and the instructor will demonstrate collaging techniques we will use to create our artworks. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of tarot and art itself, along with a collaged artwork on a wooden panel. 

In this 3-hour workshop we will:

• Discuss the history of playing cards, tarot cards, and oracle cards
• Practice reading and discussing cards in small groups
• Create art inspired by the cards

This class is for beginners of all skill levels, all supplies provided. Feel free to bring your own cards for reading or collaging with, or borrow ours. All art material will be provided.

About the Artist

Shady Kimzey is the founder and facilitator of Bad Art. Their work is focused on the mental, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits of art-making. Students usually include beginners and those exploring something new. Shady’s work focuses on mental health, surrealism, the past/present/future, and pop culture. Need to Know:

• This workshop will take place indoors at MAA Nixie.
• This event is great for all ages 10 and older.
• Due to the small-scale format of this project, each participant needs to purchase their own ticket.
