Drinks must be served by an ABC permittee within the district in a designated Hub RTP Social District cup. The Hub RTP Social District officially launched on May 28, 2026, and is powered by a common area entertainment permit provided through the ABC Commission of NC.

The Hub RTP Social District operates from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week.

What are the hours of operation?

The Hub RTP Social District operates seven days a week from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, in accordance with Durham County and North Carolina state laws. Hours are subject to change based on programming or safety needs. Please visit individual business’ websites for hours of operation.

Where is it located?

The Hub RTP Social District’s epicenter is located at 3151 Hitchings Way, Durham, NC, within the walkable retail and restaurant loop at Horseshoe at Hub RTP and surrounding outdoor amenities.

How do businesses participate?

ABC-permitted businesses located within the Hub RTP Social District boundaries can choose to opt in. Interested businesses should contact the Research Triangle Foundation of NC to receive operational guidelines, signage, and approved cup requirements.

What is required for a beverage to be consumed in the Hub RTP Social District?

– It must be served in a Hub RTP Social District-approved, labeled cup.

– The drink must be purchased from a participating ABC-permitted business.

– The labeled cup must be disposed of before leaving the Hub RTP Social District boundaries. 

– The beverage must remain within the Hub RTP Social District boundaries.

Can I bring my own alcohol into the Hub RTP Social District?

No. Only alcoholic beverages purchased from permitted businesses within the Hub RTP Social District can be consumed in the designated indoor and outdoor spaces.

Based on the data collected from other common area permit holders within North Carolina, there are no immediate safety concerns. The Hub RTP Social District will be regularly evaluated in partnership with local agencies to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
