Made by You: Huichol Yarn Art

Join us for a Huichol-inspired yarn art workshop. Creativity meets storytelling and native tradition through the vibrant Indigenous Mexican art form created by the Wixárika (Huichol) people. Participants will learn basic yarn painting techniques by applying glue to a canvas and arranging colorful yarn to create their own design inspired by the storybook The Journey of the Tunuri and the Blue Deer. This activity is beginner-friendly and children are welcome when accompanied by a parent who can help with glue and scissors. All materials will be provided!

About the Artist

Tyler Caldwell is an elementary educator of eight years and a multifaceted artist of many mediums. Art has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. Her work blends education and artistry with a deep passion for equity. Through both teaching and creating, she strives to use art as a powerful tool for storytelling, representation, and empowering every voice to be seen and valued.

Need to Know:

  • This workshop will take place outdoors at the Hub RTP stage. In the event of unfavorable weather, we do have an indoor backup plan.
  • This event is great for all ages 7 and older.
  • Due to the small-scale format of this project, each participant needs to purchase their own ticket.

About Made by You:
Each month, Hub RTP partners with a talented local artist to bring you an intimate, hands-on workshop experience. You’ll explore a new art medium, create something beautiful to take home, and connect directly with the featured artist as they share their inspiration and process. Join us for one—or all—of these creative sessions, each offering a fresh opportunity to learn, make, and be inspired.

Note: By registering and participating in this event, you consent to the recording of your likeness, image, and/or voice and authorize Hub RTP to use photographs, video, and audio recordings containing your likeness, image, and/or voice in any medium for any purpose.

Concerts on the Creek: Lamont Landers

This month, Concerts on the Creek features Lamont Landers.

When Lamont Landers steps up to the microphone, he doesn’t just perform—he owns the stage. His voice carries the weight of lived experience, shaped by the quiet resilience of a small-town journey that led him, on his own terms, into the spotlight. With a voice that soars effortlessly through deep wells of soul, electrifying bursts of rock ‘n’ roll, and smooth, slow-burning R&B, the Alabama native captivates not just as a powerhouse vocalist but also as a searing guitarist and a thoughtful, eloquent songwriter. His breakout came with a viral cover of Ray Charles’ “Hit the Road Jack,” topping 500K views overnight. He went on to electrify audiences on America’s Got Talent and Showtime at the Apollo. Landers’ debut EP, Introducing…Lamont Landers dropped last year.
